Standing on an overpass where two major freeways meet, Richfield Mayor Debbie Goettel discussed the ramifcations that a proposed transportation plan would have on Richfield. “We need a long-term solution” to congestion, she said. Gathered on a highway bridge overlooking the interchange of I-35W and I-494, Mayor Goettel, RCOC President Angie Schaefbauer and several other Richfield and state leaders made their pitch in response to Gov. Mark Dayton’s 10-year, $6 billion spending plan.
