Richfield Review: VFW / Fred Babcock Post #5555

Richfield Reviews by Kerry Galbraith

I went to the Richfield VFW / Fred Babcock Post #5555 for lunch on a Monday. The restaurant was quiet today as we seated ourselves in the large dining room. There were a few patrons sitting at the bar, obviously comfortable with the friendly, familiar atmosphere. The bar in this new building features a big screen TV and, though we weren’t there for alcohol, their bar menu boasts a decadent lemon drop martini that I wouldn’t mind trying.

Great American Food at Low Prices

The large dining area was quiet and comfortable, with some wedding decorations that remained from the previous weekend. Our server was friendly and at our table right away to take our drink order. My co-worker and I ordered a California burger with potato chips and a club sandwich with fresh fruit. The food came quickly and was predictably tasty. This restaurant is obviously a great place to get some classic American food that is consistently good and very budget friendly. We topped our lunch off with a piece of apple pie which was warm and delicious on an unseasonably cold April afternoon.

Daily Happy Hour Deals

The Richfield VFW serves breakfast and lunch every day of the week, and dinner Tuesday through Saturday. Check their website to see their full menu posted online and to double check their hours before heading over. Happy hour specials are also a daily occurrence, but aren’t posted online.

Looking for something fun to do in a relaxed, friendly environment? Stop in for Bingo every Sunday from 2 to 5pm and Wednesday from 5 to 7pm. If bingo isn’t your thing, there’s karaoke every Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30 to 11:30pm. Finally, stop over for a game of Texas Hold ‘Em every Friday from 6:30 to 8:30pm. Keep an eye on their Facebook page to see their live music lineup.

Low Key Lunch Great for the Whole Family

Whether you’re looking for a low key lunch spot to take the whole family, or a friendly neighborhood bar with good drink specials, I’d highly recommend the Richfield VFW. You’ll find fast, friendly servers and a classic American menu that won’t blow your budget.
