In this review I will be explaining firsthand what to expect when visiting Frenchman’s Pub, located right down the road from Veterans Park. When you first enter the bar you will notice immediately that it is a pretty typical dive bar, small in size, casual, and filled with friendly locals. This bar also has a very small home town feel to it, kind of a nice change of pace from the bigger bars in the Twin Cities area.

My Frenchman’s Pub Experience

So first off, I must confess I am a fan of dive bars and Frenchman’s was no exception. It was a great relaxed dive bar and the bartender seemed to know all the patrons personally. The food menu is a normal bar menu filled with appetizers, burgers, and numerous other fried goodies. They also have a nice selection of beers on tap and a wide range of liquor options. The bar was also filled with lively games such as pool, darts, and a number of electronic games, which I couldn’t help but think would make for an awesome Friday game night with friends. Plus the bartender was very friendly and greeted me immediately when I walked in the door. Overall, I would highly suggest that if you are looking to relax after a long day of work with a cold one, Frenchman’s would be the place to go.

Other Things About Frenchman’s

The bar is kind of tucked away when you are trying to find it from the street, so keep your eyes peeled when looking for it! Also, keep in mind this is a dive bar, so keep it casual and get ready to kick back with a cold one when you take a visit!

I was born in Richfield, MN in 1945 and remember visits to this warm and friendly Pub in the late 40’s to early 60’s with my parents and younger brother. We lived only several blocks from Frenchman’s Pub. Us two kids would sit at a table and munch out on burgers and fries and then amuse ourselves with some of the games, while my folks had a cold one (or two) and visited with other locals at the bar. It was later (60’s) when I learned that the establishment was owned by the parents of one of my schoolmates, Ricki Snyder. I have fond childhood memories of this place and was glad to hear it’s still there, as of this article in 2008 anyway. It’s a great Richfield icon.
