Richfield Reviews by Nicole Sobania
In this edition of Richfield Reviews I will be describing my experience at Sandy’s Tavern located conveniently off of Penn Ave. in Richfield. Upon entering the bar you get an immediate relaxed dive bar feel that tells you this place is a great local hang out spot. A little background about the tavern is they are very well known for their burgers, paired perfectly with an ice cold beer.
My Experience at Sandy’s Tavern
Sandy’s Tavern looks much like a house from the outside and when you enter the building you can tell that this was once a residential property that has been converted into a bar and grill, which was pretty cool. Once inside, the bar had a very relaxed vibe and you could tell that many of the patrons were regulars as they casually chatted with one another and the wait staff. While their menu was limited, it was perfect for what the tavern is known for, a great burger and a cold beer. Their prices were also very reasonable, ranging from $5-$6 for a burger or sandwich, this unfortunately did not come with any sides though. On my visit I was there with a friend who ordered one of their famous burgers – the bacon cheese burger and I ordered a walleye sandwich. The service was extremely fast as our food was out in minutes. It was fresh and was exactly what we were expecting, some tasty bar food.
Other Things to Note
The bar is very small inside and I could see it getting quite crowded on a Friday or Saturday night, however, for lunch on a Sunday the place was busy but not overcrowded. Also, it is important to note that this is a burger bar, meaning if you are a vegetarian or have dietary restrictions it may be hard to find something on their menu. Overall, great local dive bar perfect for grabbing a burger!
