Working From Home

Geez, time really does fly when you’re having fun! I can’t believe how fast my week at the Chamber flies by – I guess it’s good since the weather still stinks – hopefully the next time I look out my window, spring will really, truly have arrived.

Today, I am working from home…notice I didn’t put that phrase in quotes (wink). I really, really AM working from home. Part of the infrastructure I have built over the course of my last 18 months with the Chamber includes the ability to work remotely.

For the past 12 years, I have owned and operated a work-from-home-business so, applying that knowledge to the Chamber was a snap.

The Chamber utilizes the “cloud” for data archiving and storage by leveraging a tool called “Dropbox” which makes it possible to securely access RCOC data virtually anywhere through a browser window. The RCOC is paperless – so I don’t usually have a need to access most of the paperwork lying on my desk!

In addition, The Chamber is setup with Comcast Business service for internet and phone – which offers the ability to check voicemail remotely.

I recognize that work-from-home options are not viable in every business, but I am grateful that it IS a viable option at RCOC – especially after the winter we just survived!
