I will not talk about snow. I will not talk about snow. I will NOT!
The Midwest Society of Association Executives (MSAE) hosted a Sales and Marketing Symposium today and I was there! It was marketed as a must-attend conference for marketing, membership and sales professionals who want to get their message heard, engage their members more and provide outstanding service. But more importantly I was able to connect with other people in the field of membership-based organizations and I made two new contacts within the first 30 minutes of arriving! This left me wondering, “Why doesn’t everyone attend industry conferences?”
Attending industry conferences is critical to any business. They are another form of business networking–actively fostering contacts and creating ways to disseminate information. Connecting with other professionals in your field–in person–is invaluable and it doesn’t usually happen during a session; it happens during the breaks, the dinners, and in the bar at the conference hotel.
It’s important, too that you make the most of your time out of the office – after all, attending conferences are an investment – be sure you’re prepared! Checkout this great article that can help you prepare and get the most out of this momentary networking hub.
