The Richfield Chamber had its monthly member meeting at Fairview Southdale Hospital’s new emergency department in Edina. On August 11th, Board Chair-Elect, Brad Beard led the tour of this $42 million state-of-the-art facility. The hospital’s existing emergency department has outgrown its capacity. The current space was designed for 30,000 visits per year, but now sees 47,000. The project will expand emergency and observation space from 15,000 square feet to 65,000 square feet. The new E.R. will provide innovative new models for care, including the Popp Center for Chronic Disease Care, treating conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, hypertension cancer and asthma. The center will also provide a strong focus on behavioral health. Special thanks to Brad Beard, Brad Konkler, and Fairview board member Marty Kirsch for leading the tour and ensuring the success of the project.
