The first thing that will hit you as you walk into Q Fanatic BBQ and Grill on South Nicollet Ave, is the intoxicating smell of smoked meat. This counter service barbecue joint rivals any authentic barbecue you could find in the South. With huge portions of perfectly smoked, roasted, and grilled meat, this place has a loyal following of barbecue lovers who come from miles around.
I stopped in for lunch at Q Fanatic BBQ and Grill with three of my co-workers on a sunny Friday. There was a bit of a lunch rush, but the no-frills counter service makes for a quickly moving line, and we were seated with our food in under ten minutes. For the four of us, we opted for “The Picnic,” a huge sampling of just about everything on the menu that serves four and ran us just $45.00. Our lunch included 1/2 lb. each of pulled chicken, pulled pork and sliced brisket, 1 lb. Spare Ribs, 4 sides, and 4 rolls. It’s a great choice for a group of people who want to taste a little bit of everything. For sides, we chose the macaroni and cheese and the spicy potato wedges. Everything was smokey and delicious, and the four of us could barely finish the meal.
The staff was very friendly and efficient, and the restaurant was decorated with rustic barn wood paneled walls and lit Bell jars hanging from the ceiling. This is a great place to take your foodie friend, a date, or the whole family for some seriously authentic barbecue. Conveniently located across the street from Cub foods on South Nicollet, this little gem of a restaurant is not to be missed! Check out the cool mural painted on the outside of the restaurant and enjoy the excellent meal!
