Richfield Reviews: Penn Cycle

I stopped in to Penn Cycle on Penn Avenue in Richfield just as they were opening up the shop on a Monday morning. I was greeted right away by a friendly employee and asked if I needed any help. This little shop located at 6824 Penn Avenue South is the original location, but Penn Cycle has expanded to six other locations throughout the Twin Cities area. There are now locations in Bloomington, Minnetonka, Minneapolis, Eagan, Woodbury and Blaine. Born in Richfield, Penn Cycle has been supplying cyclists of all skill levels with the highest quality bikes since 1957. The founder, Elmer J. Sorenson opened the Richfield shop and was Trek’s very first Minnesota based dealer. Today Penn Cycle also offers Giant brand bikes in addition to Trek.

Penn Cycle: Family Owned and Operated Since 1957

Penn Cycle has always been family owned and operated, and you can tell when you walk in the store. The personal attention you will receive from the expert employees at the shop is as impressive as the bike selection. Voted Minnesota’s Best Bike Shop and Best Family Bike Shop in America, Penn Cycle is a step above the rest. One thing I appreciated as I browsed the selection and spoke with the employee at the shop, was his obvious experience and passion for biking himself. Any serious cyclist wants to buy their products from a fellow bike lover.

Trade Up or Buy New!

Looking for an upgrade? Penn Cycle also buys used bikes on the spot, hassle free. Bring in your bike to any of Penn Cycle’s seven locations throughout the Twin Cities, and they’ll work with you to determine if you are eligible for a trade-up offer. If you’re like me, you consider a new bike to be a big purchase and a somewhat big commitment. You want to make sure you leave the store with something you’ll be comfortable riding for the next few years. That’s why Penn Cycle offers a 30 day test ride guarantee. Take your new bike home and ride it around for a while, and if you’re unsatisfied, take it right back to the store and you’ll be fitted with a new bike that better suits your needs.

Overall, Penn Cycle is a great option for cyclists of all ages and skill levels. Best of all, you’ll be giving your business to a local shop and therefore supporting the community with your dollars! Check it out today!
