The Richfield School District is in the final stages of hiring another round of 25 new licensed staff on top of the 11 approved last week, Supt. Steve Unowsky said during a May 4 Richfield School Board meeting. Administration is conducting background checks and seeking contract agreements with the 25 new teachers, he said. The net gain in personnel is part of a $1.5 million budget reallocation that shifted money away from expenditures that were not going toward licensed staff. Unowsky added that the district is relying less on signing temporary teacher contracts that must be renewed each year, instead signing teachers to continuing agreements. Read the full story here.
