There’s always a lot going on in Richfield about which the City has a lot to be proud! Recent accolades include the Richfield PD, Richfield FD and Finance Department.
City Council confirmed the appointment of Jay Henthorne as the City’s new Public Safety Director. Jay has served with the Richfield Police Department since 1990. The RPD also hosted a “Tip A Cop” fundraiser and raised over $2000 for Special Olympics! Congratulations, Jay and the entire RPD!
Congratulations are also in order for Richfield Fire Chief Wayne Kewitsch on receiving an Executive Fire Officer award from the U.S. Fire Administration National Fire Academy. The four-year program includes courses, adaptive research and writing on the subjects of executive development, analysis of community risk reduction, analysis of fire service operations in emergency management, and leadership. City Manager Steve Devich says Chief Kewitsch’s accomplishment is a reflection on the Richfield Fire Department and the City. “This award is really, really special because not only has Chief Kewitsch continued his education and his development, he’s done so in a program that is very selective and very prestigious,” Devich told City Council.
City Finance Manager Chris Regis accepted the Government Finance Officer’s Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence Financial Reporting. The GFOA established the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program (CAFR Program) in 1945 to encourage and assist state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare comprehensive annual financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure. The City has earned the award for 30 consecutive years and 34 years overall.
