September has been non-stop action!

Welcome to the weekly update!  September is off to a fast start and we thought we take a moment to catch you up! Last week Partnership Academy hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for their campus expansion. Partnership Academy opened its doors in 2002 with 115 students and 12 staff. Over the past 16 years, the school has grown significantly. Last week, school staff, students, families and other members of the community watched as officials broke ground at 6500 Nicollet Avenue for the future site of the school. The new Partnership Academy building will serve 470 students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
This Thursday (9/13) at City Hall, the City of Richfield is kicking off Richfield’s Complete Count. Richfield’s Complete Count Committee will help assure a complete count in the upcoming Census 2020 so our community receives its fair share of congressional and legislative representation as well as our proper share of federal and state funding for programs that serve our area. Comprised of highly regarded representatives and trusted voices from different sectors of our community, CCCs plan and implement focused projects that help to increase the response rate of our residents. For more information about Richfield’s CCC, call either Pam Dmytrenko, Assistant City Manager/HR Mgr. at 612-861-9708 or Jared Voto, Executive Aide/Analyst at 612-861-9170, who are providing City staff support to this committee. Or visit the Minnesota State Demographic Center’s website, which includes additional information on CCC’s, census resources, and maps highlighting hard to count areas from the 2010 Census:

Also, we would like to take a moment to remind you of our local businesses along our road construction routes. The 66th street reconstruction project has been unavoidable over the last two years. We are breathing a sign of relief that the project is near completion, but we are not done yet. Please remember that our businesses along 66th street need your patronage. Eddie’z Autowash will keep your car looking brand new in their state-of-the-art newly remodeled wash facility. Dairy Queen will have you enjoying the last days of summer heat with a cool treat. Speaking of summer heat, Von Hanson’s has all your grilling meats fresh and ready to go. Want to treat your office staff to lunch- call the team at Pizza Luce or Houlihan’s and make a reservation.
Be a good neighbor and make sure to make an extra effort to support all our businesses along the 66th street route during construction. Crews have been making good progress these past few weeks and have almost replaced all underground utilities in this year’s construction zone. If you want to plan ahead, here is what you can expect along 66th Street next week:
  • Utility replacement between Humboldt Avenue and Lake Shore Drive
  • Paving between Lyndale Avenue and Lake Shore Drive
  • Concrete sidewalk installation between Pleasant Avenue and Lake Shore Drive
  • Concrete sidewalk installation between Nicollet and 1st avenues
  • Pond construction at the southeast corner of 66th Street and Stevens Avenue
